Post-Speech Thoughts
I just found this on the web from the straw poll, post-speech thoughts!
This experience of staying up all night to guard our straw poll tent is actually awesome. I've been monitoring the surroundings with a golf cart, which I'm driving around tomorrow (I mean, later today). Anyway, so far so good. All is quiet:
Well, at least this campaign is making history with new technology -- the first campaign ever to blog a straw poll through the middle of the night.
I'm staying overnight at the straw poll tent. It's going to be me and one other staffer. We're there for security reasons. If someone tries to vandalize the tent (and there's a high chance too), it'll be all over the blog within the hour -- or, however long it takes to call police.
But, hey, since I'm up I'll post some pics through the night of the location. Especially since I have to make up for almost a whole day of not posting!
Results announced Saturday at 7 PM.
A sample of 222 people who were considered the most likely Republican caucus goers were asked a series of questions about the Aug. 11 Straw Poll in Ames.
Most -- 81.5 percent -- were aware of the straw poll; 18.5 percent were not. Of those who were aware, only 23.8 percent planned to attend, leaving a number too small to analyze with confidence for details of candidate support. However, about one-third of those planning to attend said they support Romney, 16 percent Tancredo, 12 percent Giuliani, 9 percent Brownback and 7 percent Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas.
We are now in the final three days before the 2007 Iowa Straw Poll. No poll is more critical. If you haven't signed up, please sign up now. Here's more information on the Iowa Straw Poll, such as the bus routes and events schedules.
This is the official campaign blog of Congressman Tancredo's run for the White House. We'll show you what is happening on the campaign almost everyday and encourage you to get involved. You'll see why Congressman Tancredo is running to secure the borders, protect American sovereignty, and preserve our culture.
