AMNESTY IS BACK

Posted by SecPress in Immigration Update | Comments (13) | Permalink

Tomorrow Senator Durbin will try to push the DREAM Act through AGAIN.  For those who don't know, this act will give amnesty to a few million illegal aliens.

According to NumbersUSA.com, we only have 25 anti-amnesty votes right now, with the rest committed to amnesty or on the fence.  They need 60 votes to prevent a filibuster and pass this act.

Last time you shut down the switchboards calling your Senators, please do it again!  Call the Senate switchboard at (202) 224-3121.

WHY IS THE DREAM ACT AMNESTY AND A BAD THING?

Reid Files Motion to Bring DREAM Act to the Floor!
Call Your Senators NOW!

Things are moving at warp speed on Capitol Hill—there is no time to lose! Last night Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) filed a motion to bring the DREAM Act (S.2205) to the Senate floor. A cloture vote to proceed on the bill could come as early as WEDNESDAY MORNING!!!

The DREAM Act will grant amnesty to millions of illegal aliens and help them pay college tuition at taxpayer expense. Please note that S.2205, unlike some versions of the bill, now has an age limit of 30. There is, however, NO CAP on the number of people who may receive amnesty under the DREAM Act. Moreover, to make even more people eligible for amnesty under the program, Homeland Security may waive the following offenses:

* Failure to show up in court;
* Obtaining visas by fraud;
* Alien smuggling;
* Document fraud;
* Violation of student visas;
* Marriage fraud;
* Falsely claiming citizenship;
* Voter fraud.

Once an illegal alien applies for legal status under the DREAM Act, he or she may not be removed—FOR ANY REASON WHATSOEVER—while the application is pending. Furthermore, the educational requirements in the bill are virtually meaningless as Homeland Security may waive the application of them if the alien can show "compelling circumstances for the inability to complete the requirements." And, illegal aliens who obtain amnesty under this bill will likely become eligible for in-state tuition and for federal financial aid.

SecPress, who is in charge of the Myspace page? It has not been updated in a couple days and it really needs to be daily. Can you please find out and let me know. I need to talk to them for the Fan Site.

Thanks!

An Open Request.

Greetings ALL:

I am writing this open request to you all to start using the Tancredo Fan Campaign site more. Also, if you have not signed up to be a member please do so. I truly believe that this site is a spectacular weapon at our disposal for getting Tom elected to be our next leader. So, please utilize it to the best of your abilities. Knowing that you're engaged in making Tancredo Fan Campaign a highly trafficked website will bring Tom great pleasure when he views the members who are using it. Caree will be showing Tom the great asset this brings to his campaign when he comes to Iowa this weekend.

Please, EVERYONE, I must be notified if you have any problems or concerns about using the website. I CANNOT address the issues you have unless you tell me. And, I honestly want to make every visit you have to Tancredo Fan Campaign as pleasurable as possible. I can't do that until I know why people are reluctant to be on the site.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION!!!!

"The Democratic Party Supports Discrimination-Witness the Dream Act Amnesty"--article by Tony Dolz as published in the American Chronicle. http://www.americanchronicle.com/articles/viewArticle.asp?articleID=41016

Reid just won't give the "Dream Act" a rest, instead he continues to make it a nightmare for everyone of us. It is obvious that it is up to us to stop this wacky legislation once again. We can't take our eyes away from the Senate for one second, before they're on the same old story again, in spite of our unending protests from their last two attempts. Don't stop calling the senators who are on the fence, as Roy Beck says. www.numbersusa.com.

Also, the fan site is terrific, and if Tom is going to be viewing it, we want it to "look its best." Please get in contact with creampuff if you are unsure of how to navigate the site.

HB 1804 an Oklahoma law that was passed by a majority in both the House, Senate and signed into law by our reluctant Democrat Governor goes into effect on November 1. This would be a great opportunity for Tom to make a second trip to Oklahoma and rally behind and support the people of Oklahoma in our effort to say no to amnesty and yes to the rule of law. This would be a great opportunity for Tancredo to get very good local press coverage, secure more votes and to undermine the growing support for Thompson in the state.

YOU GO TOM! We are so proud of you!

Representative Tom Tancredo of Colorado, a Republican presidential candidate whose fierce opposition to illegal immigration is the center of his campaign, contacted the immigration service yesterday demanding that agents raid a senator’s news conference.

The afternoon event on Capitol Hill was held by Senator Richard J. Durbin, Democrat of Illinois and the leading sponsor of a bill that would give legal status to illegal immigrants who are high school graduates, if they attend college or serve in the United States military for two years. The bill is scheduled to come up for an important procedural vote in the Senate this morning.

Mr. Tancredo announced yesterday morning that he had contacted Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the federal agency, calling for the arrest of illegal immigrants he said would attend the news conference.

“If we can’t enforce our laws inside the building where American laws are made, where can we enforce them?” Mr. Tancredo said in a statement.

Participating in the news conference were three immigrant students who would benefit if Mr. Durbin’s legislation passed; two were born in Germany, and one was from Costa Rica. All were in the United States on temporary legal status, said Joe Shoemaker, Mr. Durbin’s spokesman.

Mr. Shoemaker said the senator was surprised and offended by Mr. Tancredo’s effort.

“Congressman, have you no shame?” Mr. Durbin said in a statement, indirectly comparing Mr. Tancredo to Senator Joseph McCarthy and his anti-communist hearings in the 1950s.

A spokeswoman for the immigration agency, Kelly Nantel, confirmed that officials had received a letter from Mr. Tancredo and were reviewing it. She said the agency took no action yesterday.

DREAM ACT Fails in the Senate.
This morning, the proposal of the DREAM ACT, by Sen. Dick Durbin, FAILED to move forward in the U.S. Senate by a vote of 52 - 44. This was a victory for the opponents of Amnesty for Illegal Immigrants and their children.

This piece of legislation would have given a "free ride" to citizenship for the children of Illegal Immigrants who were brought here by the age of 16. If they were here for 5 years, completed high school, and wanted to go to college for 2 years or sign up for the military, they would have been allowed a green card in order to become a U.S. Citizen.

This was a direct violation of what the American people wanted and it deserved the failed fate it got. In no way, should the Senate have passed something this rediculous.

We will have to wait and see what other types of treasonous legislation our Senators come up with. But, as usual, the American Citizens will speak up for what's right and continue to provide outrage for the Senate's willful disregard for the American people.

Here's a link to an article in the Boston Globe. It is about Fred Thompson but it mentions Tom Tancredo. The article isn't specifically about the DREAM amnesty but illegal immigration in general:

http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2007/10/24/thompson_stirs_rivals_with_immigration_plan/?page=1

Here's the part about Tom Tancredo:

"US Representative Tom Tancredo of Colorado has made the issue the centerpiece of his campaign, calling for the elimination of government benefits to illegal immigrants and a reduction in legal immigrants.

"Tancredo's the one that's brought the entire debate in his direction," said Chuck Laudner, executive director of the Iowa Republican Party. "Everybody tries to get as close to Tancredo on that issue as they can. He's the standard-bearer on that issue."

What had happened with Sen. McCain vote on Amnesty bill? He was in Senate, voted for the Judge Leslie Southwick conformation earlier, but didn't vote on S.2205. If he got the message(he said it during that interview after Orlando debates) about an illegal immigration, he supposed to vote "nay". He didn't vote at all!!!! By the way, Brownback voted for Amnesty, as did my “darlings” Hillary and Schumer.

That is a wonderful idea, Aaron! For Tom to come back to Oklahoma on November 1. I have not heard of any special event but surely there will be one. We need Tom on the Capitol steps on November 1.

Thank you for your post, LM. That was encouraging words from Mr. Laudner.
