I have come to the conclusion that many people do not truly understand what a threat illegal immigrants can be to the United States. That is why I am going to try and inform as many people as possible through a new link on our website called "DAILY OUTRAGE". You may notice the news section on our front page there are two links:
10-3 DAILY OUTRAGE: Illegal immigrant blames his robbery on new employer sanctions law
and
10-4 DAILY OUTRAGE: Immigrant who stabbed man escapes deportation
These are just small examples of what is happening everyday in this country. In the spirit of fairness and to prove I am not biased, do a simple news search for "illegal immigrant" and see what you find. I bet that there are more articles like the two above than there are about illegal aliens getting 4.0 averages or being at the head of their class.
Don't take my word for it, click here to do a search!
Don McDowell attended the Ames office BBQ and blogged about it on Cyclone Conservatives:
The crowd was well over 75 and possibly inching toward a 100 people and because the office is just a 'suite', it was very packed and people even had to stand outside because the crowd was very big. There were state central committee members there, elected officials, former candidates for office, and plenty of familiar faces.
Redstate, one of the most popular conservative blogs, interviewed The Tanc again. Read the post HERE.
The media is saying, due to the new Save America component of this campaign, that Tancredo is scaling back.
Like this Redstate post.
Yes, Congressman Tancredo is planning on going around the country to stop this amnesty bill. However, Unlike McCain and Giuliani said a few days ago about abandoning Iowa -- we are not. Tancredo is still campaigning in Iowa full time. In fact, I'm with him in Iowa for the next 4 days.
Cyclone Conservatives loves the video of Congressman Tancredo driving while talking about the new immigration legislation. I decided to film the video in the car because we were short on time.
Here's my favorite part on a decent immigration article in today's Washington Times:
"This immigration issue should be of serious concern to all members of Congress with an interest in being re-elected," said Curly Haugland, a North Dakota rancher and Republican national committeeman. "So far, the only member of Congress that has expressed an opinion on the matter that I agree with is that of House Minority Leader John Boehner, who called the bill 'a piece of [expletive].' "
Commentary magazine blogged this:
Though immigration is unlikely to boost a second-tier candidate into the top rank, it might provide the opportunity for an outsider like Tom Tancredo (who has already murmured about running) to put together a breakaway campaign based on his opposition to both abortion and illegal immigration.
The New York Sun's Latest Politics blog highlights a few outside the ring punches. If McCain's going down because of this immigration proposal, then he's going to take down Romney too:
"Maybe I should wait a couple weeks and see if it changes," Mr. McCain said of Mr. Romney's position on immigration this week. "Maybe he can get out his small varmint gun and drive those Guatemalans off his yard."
He also slammed Fred Thompson:
On Fred Thompson's attacks on the immigration compromise, Mr. McCain said: "He had a different position not that long ago." But, as he's not in the race yet, Mr. McCain said, maybe "Fred" will have time to sort that all out.
Redstate responded to the "Myth/Fact: Ten Key Myths About the Border Security and Immigration Reform Agreement" that the White House released.
This only fuels our campaign. National Journal's blog, Hotline On Call, notes:
CNN's Dobbs: "It's very hard to tell whether there is real sincerity, real backbone on the border security provisions, and whether there are real and determined, sincere efforts to bring enforcement of U.S. immigration law to bear. Without those two things, this deal, no matter how ballyhooed the result today on Capitol Hill, it hasn't got a chance in the world" ("AC 360," 5/17).
Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-CO): "It is amnesty. And, if they want it, just say it. They're just afraid of the word. But they're not afraid of actually doing it" ("PZ Now," CNN, 5/17).
Blogs and papers have been curious about the organ transplantation question asked to Congressman Tancredo at last week's debate in Simi Valley.
Well...mystery solved?
Everyone dodges the claim that their immigration reform is not amnesty, no matter the citizenship chances for illegal immigrants. So today, Mickey Kaus called them out on his blog Kausfiles.
Comes now the New York Times to tell me I've been wasting my time:
Americans want the immigration issue solved, and they strongly favor "amnesty," whether you call it that or not. An array of recent polls show powerful support for an earned path to citizenship.
"Call it a banana if you want to," Mr. McCain said of the amnesty debate last year, in a welcome moment of lucidity. [E.A.]
In other words, Tom Tancredo is right. It's "amnesty." Glad we got that cleared up. ...

The Caucus Cooler, the premiere Iowa Caucus Blog, posted this today:
So we’ve been sitting around thinking about how to review the Lincoln Day "Not so much Unity" Dinner and have had a lot of trouble. We thought about giving you our fave speeches in decending order but decided against (If you really care we thought the following people gave good speeches in order: Romney, Tancredo, Brownback, McCain and the following made us want to give the speaker a swirlie: Gilmore, Thompson).
Hershel Krustofski blogged on Krusty Konservative, a popular conservative Iowa blog, about the Lincoln Dinner and declared Congressman Tancredo one of the winners:
Kongressman Tom Tancredo might have served up some cheesecake in his post event reception, but he dished out a ton of red meat right after dinner. Tancredo owns the illegal immigration issue, and he made it abundantly clear on Saturday night. While he is never going to raise money like the top three, he is going to sign up a ton of activist on that issue alone.
Here are some highlights that John Derbyshire blogged today at National Review Online's The Corner:
Tom has been a solid conservative for ever. (Ninety-eight percent lifetime rating from American Conservative Union.) He is sound as a bell on every conservative issue you can name, and always has been. In those CPAC clips he offers his understanding of conservatism: "Limited government: the rule of law: strong national defense: traditional values."

Tom is a capable speaker—not brilliant, but capable—as good as Giuliani, and far better than Obama (the real lightweight in this race so far). He seems sane and comfortable in his skin, and I don't know of any skeletons in his closet. He's light on executive experience, unless you count running a think tank—but so are plenty of other candidates. Another quote from Tom's CPAC address: "The conservative movement is not supposed to choose a candidate, it's supposed to PRODUCE one."

What's not to like?
Hershel Krustofski blogged on Krusty Konservative, a popular conservative Iowa blog, that Tancredo "will make a big impact on the Iowa Straw Poll and the Iowa Caucus if you ask me."
Tancredo’s announcement on talk radio had more impact than any traditional announcement where his Iowa staff would have turned out 100 or so people for, it also doesn’t cost anything either. Tancredo kontinues to impress me.
Congressman Tancredo's climb into the ring as a presidential contender is sure to alter the match, most likely in our favor.
The Washingtonian's Capital Comment blog features a weekly roundup of 8 important political developments. Number 5 this week is how Tancredo's awesome entrance onto the presidential scene:
will ensure that the Republican field has to be a little bit more strident on immigration than they’d probably prefer. Tancredo has a pretty strong (albeit small) base of support among conservatives and received much praise during the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) earlier this spring.
Don McDowell blogged on Cyclone Conservatives, a popular Iowa conservative blog, "When I did door knocking and phone calling before the election mostly on behalf of Tom Latham and Jim Nussle/Bob Vander Plaats, I was really struck by how often people asked what their stances were on immigration and whether they were going to do anything about the illegal immigration problem."
While you're at Don's blog, it wouldn't hurt to vote in that poll on the right.
----------
Also, voting in The Laura Ingraham Show poll that I posted yesterday is over. Thanks for voting!
Be sure to vote online at the GOP Bloggers March 2007 Straw Poll. Although it's for March, the poll is still open. Thanks!
Of over 25 radio programs that Congressman Tancredo was on yesterday, it was The Hugh Hewitt Show that had the chance to illuminate an issue that millions of Americans support us on, but instead he chose to educate Tancredo about the merits of supporting an illegal alien amnesty bill.
After talking with Tancredo he told me his response to Hewitt's show: "Why would we come back on his show? I know it makes good radio to be engaged in an hour for a yelling match with him, but it is not a good use of our time. We will not come back on the program."
Earlier today, Mark Krikorian, on National Review Online's The Corner, blogs:
if the Senate passes an immigration bill with any form of legalization and guest workers, Tancredo's candidacy would be supercharged.
That's right. And get ready, because the immigration debate is about to flare up again in the House and the Senate.
This is the official campaign blog of Congressman Tancredo's run for the White House. We'll show you what is happening on the campaign almost everyday and encourage you to get involved. You'll see why Congressman Tancredo is running to secure the borders, protect American sovereignty, and preserve our culture.
