Tancredo Demands Brownback Apologize

Posted by Mike Tate in Campaign News | Comments (11) | Permalink

The transcript of Brownback's push call:

Hello this is an urgent alert for pro-life republicans in Iowa.

Tom Tancredo has accepted tens of thousands of dollars from the founder of a Planned Parenthood network, the largest provider of abortion in the world.

Pro-life republicans have asked Tom Tancredo to donate the money to a crisis pregnancy center here in Iowa that helps women chose life.

Tom Tancredo stubbornly refuses to do so.

Say no to Tom Tancredo and his Planned Parenthood friend and help end abortion in America.

This call is paid for by Brownback for President.

Abortion issues can wait, illegal immigration can't. Let's take back our country first and worry about the rest later. My vote is for Tom, a man who wants to restore this country and do right by the American people. We better hope and pray that Clinton, Obama, or Romney doesn't win. They've been at the La Raza party in Miami, sucking up on all the hispanic votes. None of them care about us, the legal residents. Please remember that when it's time to vote.

An appology would be appropriate. However, on the bright side, this does show that Senator Brownback feels threatened that Tom Tancredo is a better candidate than him.

Interesting. I don't have a dog in this fight since neither Tancredo or Brownback is a serious presidential candidate.

But I do find Brownback's pointing out the *John Tanton* connection long overdue and highly relevant. It's a dirty little (actually, big) secret in "conservative" quarters, and Tanton by the way has his tentacles into many conservatives besides Tom Tancredo. To my knowledge only the Wall St. Journal, Linda Chavez, and a handful of bloggers have raised the John Tanton issue.

Mr. Tancredo, Sam did not suggest that you are not pro-life. Matter of fact, that's his point... the fact that you ARE vehemently pro-life makes your alliance with Tanton & Co. quite baffling and troubling. In your next video, please consider addressing the allegation instead of deflecting it.

With all due respect to Mary, abortion issues cannot wait. They are intertwined with the illegal immigration issue in so far as this country's government, big businesses, and education system merely view people as "economic units", not unique individuals to be valued as creatures of God with immortal souls. That's why they say we "need" these illegal immigrants without a care as to the impact on America or how they will be treated, to fill the jobs the 40 million missing people eliminated by abortion would have filled. By the way, I am not convinced of this "need", I am convinced of the need for more loyal Americans properly educated in Western Civilization, true History and logical, critical thinking.
I have heard this story about this "contributor" before, about a month ago. What I want to know is:
Who is this person? Let everyone know.
What does he/she believe now?
If still connected with Planned Parenthood, yes, give the money back with a polite no thanks, we don't take blood money (I've heard of liberals using this very tactic to drag down good people, by pretending to be something else). If not connected, people do have changes of heart, we should give the benefit of the doubt. We know Mr Tancredo's true record on abortion/pro-life issues and I am not shaken in my support.
Either way, accusations without specifics (name, time, how much, etcetera) serve no one and Mr Brownback should apologize.

Phillip Cheek:

That's true. A main reason a candidate would attack an opponent is if they feel threatened.

And the bottom line is this: If Democrats donated to Tancredo that doesn't mean he's a Democrat. Heck, if Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama donated money to this campaign would that mean Tancredo is a far left liberal? No. So, there should be no problem here. This is dirty politics plain and simple.

I agree with Marianne Primett:

Mr. Tancredo, you say that you are NOT a one issue man. You say that you accepted the money because John Tanton supports your anti-illegal immigration stance. You shoot yourself in the foot then, by keeping this donation. It *proves* that you are a one-issue man by focusing on Tanton's support of that one issue.

Don't get me wrong. You are MY candidate and I am voting for you for the nomination. I personally KNOW that you are not a one issue man and that you are pro-life and conservative on all the issues.

So, prove it and give Tanton's money back. You don't need money from tainted sources. The Lord will supply all of your needs if you stand for Him.

Watchdog group claims Upton, Brownback on the take
14 Mar 2005 // WASHINGTON -- Several of the most vocal congressional critics of indecency have accepted political contributions from businesses that profit substantially from porn, a watchdog group has charged.
In a report released late last week , Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington documented contributions to, among others, Rep. Fred Upton (R-Mich.) and Sen. Sam Brownback (R-Kan.), both of whom have authored key anti-indecency legislation.

No actual makers of pornographic material contributed to the politicians. All money came from businesses that offer porn in addition to more family-oriented content or services. Among the contributors were cablers Comcast, Time Warner, Cox, Charter, Adelphia and Cablevision; satcasters EchoStar and DirecTV; along with Marriott Intl. and Holiday Inn.

According to "Addicted to Porn: Members of Congress Accept Contributions from Porn Purveyors," Upton received $56,000; Brownback received $17,000.

In an accompanying statement, Crew exec director Melanie Sloan said, "It is one thing to be silent on the issue and accept porn purveyors' contributions. However, these members of Congress attempt to slap pornographers with fines and legislative restrictions with one hand and turn around and accept porn profits with the other. "

The report details contributions to 15 members of Congress who received an aggregate $433 million during the 2002 and 2004 election cycles.

However, Sloan reserved her sharpest comments for Rep. Heather Wilson (R-N.M.), labeling her "the biggest hypocrite of all for having written a letter to former Vice President Al Gore demanding that he return a contribution from an adult entertainment Web site and for sanctimoniously ranting at Viacom executives that they cared more about profits than morality."

The report maintains that porn is an increasing source of profits for the media and hotel businesses. Cable and satellite TV's highest profit margins come from adult programming, and pornographic movies available in rooms provides the hotel industry with one of its highest profit margins, the report said.

"Based on estimates provided by the hotel industry, at least half of all guests at hotels such as Marriott and Holiday Inn pay to view adult movies," the report stated. "These orders result in approximately $190 million a year in sales." Viewers spend nearly $1 billion a year for pay channel or on-demand porn, the report added.

Upton declined to comment on the report. Calls to Wilson and Brownback seeking comment were not returned.

Comments by Tom Tancredo about abortion:

From the May 3, 2007, GOP debate: "After 40 million dead because we have aborted them in this country, I would say that that would be the greatest day in this country's history when that [Roe v. Wade], in fact, is overturned."

Also from the May 3, 2007, GOP debate: "The reproductive choice part of that [question], if I heard you correctly, is a reference to abortion. The right to kill another person is not a right that I would agree with and support."

Reaction on April 17, 2007, to the United States Supreme Court decision on the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act: "Today the Supreme Court put an end to this barbaric practice of infanticide."

Further reaction on April 17, 2007, to the United States Supreme Court decision on the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act: "One can only hope this is the first step towards ending the tragedy of abortions."

More reaction on April 17, 2007, to the United States Supreme Court decision on the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act: "I am pleased the Court has finally begun to address the moral and intellectual travesty of Roe vs. Wade."

have you donated to pro-life institutions?

I hope Mr. Tancredo will be a Republican Candidate that does not hand everything to the rich and powerful. I hope he remembers the disabled, and poor elderly. I'm looking for three things basicly from my Presidential Pick: 1. Is For the Innocent-100% Pro-Life. 2. Is Against the Guilty-Someone that believes as I that Convicted Murderers should not receive room & board for an Extended Period. 3. Someone that Will Not Proceed to War or Continue in It, Consuming American and Foreign Lives without DEMANDING that the vanquished Receive the same Rights we Cherish. The First being Freedom of Religion!

Brownback is a member of the open borders lobby. He has also winked at and flirted with openly racist groups like La Raza. He is a dangerous man. Thank God he will go nowhere in the primaries.
