Tancredo's Reponse to Hugh Hewitt

Posted by Mike Tate in On The Blogs | Comments (13) | Permalink

Of over 25 radio programs that Congressman Tancredo was on yesterday, it was The Hugh Hewitt Show that had the chance to illuminate an issue that millions of Americans support us on, but instead he chose to educate Tancredo about the merits of supporting an illegal alien amnesty bill.

After talking with Tancredo he told me his response to Hewitt's show: "Why would we come back on his show? I know it makes good radio to be engaged in an hour for a yelling match with him, but it is not a good use of our time. We will not come back on the program."

I listen to Hugh Hewitt everyday. The day Tom went on Hugh Hewitt's show, I knew Hugh was going to go off on Tom. Not give him a chance. And I was right. Hugh is just interested in selling his stupid book more then finding a solution to the Republican party finding some one that is truly conservative.

I agree with Tom not to go on Hugh Hewitt's show again. Hugh seems to think he has some kind of Rush listener ship. Right. He wishes. Hugh picks candidates like he pick's his beloved Ohio State teams. They always lose. Tom is getting my money, Hugh is getting none of my money. I will never purchase a book of Hugh Hewitt again. His Blogger book is now heating my house. Now as I listen to Hewitt, he is starting to cry because he has to many people on Tom's side calling his show.

Now he will not take anymore calls about the interview he
did with Tom. What a wimp. Put your dress back on Hewitt.

GO TOM!!!

Hugh Hewitt is my favorite talk show host. I love his guests and the insight I derive from his interviews.

I am appalled by that interview. I've never heard him treat a guest with such disrespect. I think his animosity toward principled conservatives will preclude his need to apologize.

When I heard how angry the Tancredo supporters were on Hugh Hewitt's radio show this evening, I went to his blog to read the transcript of yesterday's interview. It was a slap in the face to conservatives everywhere. First, he suggested that a Presidential candidate who didn't resign from Congress while campaigning wasn't really serious about winning. Next, he harrassed Congressman Tancredo for supporting Jim Gilchrist in his Congressional candidacy. In the process, he tried (but failed) to smear the Minuteman Project. And finally, he came to the astonishing conclusion that opposing amnesty guarantees its implementation. Apparently, Mr. Hewitt believes that it's perfectly all right to compromise your values and your beliefs as long as you end up getting what you want. Spoken like a true show business celebrity, Hugh.

Today's show was one of the most interesting I've heard in a long time. Caller after caller, the Tancredo supporters showed themselves to be extremely intelligent, articulate, up to date on the issues, and the angriest callers to the Hugh Hewitt show that I've ever heard. In the end, he lost every argument, sounding more like a petulant child than an intelligent political commentator. Finally, tired of fighting a losing battle, he announced that he would take no more calls on the subject of immigration. The callers won, and Hewitt cut to a commercial.

I'm glad to see that there's a Presidential candidate who is willing to stand strong and commit to honesty and integrity in government. I didn't know much about Congressman Tancredo until now, but after reading the interview transcript, I'm very encouraged. Sir, I wish you well.

Well, Hugh -- pretty bad, that's all I can say. Tom, God bless you. You have my support and the support of countless people in my state of Arizona, in the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps (not to be confused with Gilchrist's group) and around the nation.

Win for my daughter's future as an inheritor of the American dream. Win for our country.

Tony

I have little respect for Hugh after listening to the interview. By the way, Hugh, you are wrong. Most Americans agree with Tom Tancredo.

Thank you Congressman Tancredo for supporting the Americans who actually pay for the health care, education, and public services illegal aliens receive.

I read the transcript of the HH interview of TT. HH is not a conservative proponent. HH should apologize to the millions of Americans that love and respect a man of integrity such as Tom Tancredo. Tom we need about 500 more people like you in our federal government and then this nation could have some peace.

God Bless you Tom and give victory in the elections.

I did not hear the show but Hewitt's response is normal within the group of elitist's who worry more about getting elected than doing the right things. Congressman Tancredo is right and I'm sorry, everyone else is wrong or unwilling to make a commitment to immigration reform. I'm sorry if I don't want my country to look like a third world country and I want my kids and grandkids to live in America not some watered down version. Legal immigration is fine but the uncontrolled version we are dealing with today is unacceptable to most Americans. So my suggestion to Tom is this. Run as a third party candidate with National Defense, Immigration Reform, Tax Reform, Alternative Energy Development and Educational Vouchers as his platform. Give abortion, gay marriage and Anna Nicole Smith back to the states and let them deal with it. Blake Green- Bakersfield, Ca. P.S. "We're not all crazy out in California they just run the place.

Want some good news? Go over to Hewitts site, hughhewitt.townhall.com, and read his hate mail regarding the "interview". I'll bet it's 10 or 15 for Tancredo for every one Hewitt supporter. Page three of Hewitt's page has the post on the day of the "interview". Same story.

That "interview" is the most commented post on Hewitt's blog and Mr. Tancredo is kicking a**!

I would say "ditto" to those who found HH 's Tancredo interview abhorent. HH has his candidate and the rest of us conservatives be damned.

Tom:

After reading the transcript of your interview from the Hugh Hewitt show, I feel disappointed and angry with Mr. Hewitt. As a fellow buckeye(and their teams don't always lose!), I almost feel like disowning him.

I have listened to his show on and off for the last several years and he comes off as a smarmy intellectual who acts a a bucket(BS) carrier for the Republican party.

I've heard you on the Michael Savage show before, Tom. Maybe Hugh could glean a pearl of Savage's wisdom when he often reiterates that the nation comes before any political party. I think you made that clear in your interview with Hugh Hewitt. Addtionally, Hugh could take another antidote from his buddy, Dennis Prager, "clarity before agreement," Hugh!

I support the Minutemen and I have supported your campaign, Mr. Tancredo. I hope you can get the ball rolling.

I salute you for sticking to your principles, and not just on immigration either (as noted by your voting record):

Hugh has lost a regular listener of several years and you have gained an ardent supporter for putting your country before politics.

Let's win in 2008!

I heard the interview on the radio, y'all are right Hugh lost big time when he argued that standing on principal is costing us the war.

The blood of every American murdered by illegal aliens stains the very foundation of the white house and congress. Especially when they are given the choice of deportation or facing justice.

Tom Tancredo has the support of ordinary Americans who pay the bills for the illegals. I fear the invasion of illegals will be the end of California and possibly the end of this nation.
